Famous for its Roman-built baths, the city of Bath was once named Aquae Sulis (the waters of Sulis). Its natural hot springs made it a spa town back in the Georgian era, and people today still come to this historic city for relaxing wellness treatments. Bath’s soothing waters were described to have “a very strong flavour o’ warm flat irons” in Charles Dickens’ The Pickwick Papers. A drink from the famous spa water fountain, however, is said to contain 43 minerals. One can follow the city’s history by visiting its most important sites – from the Roman Baths, to Bath Abbey and the Royal Crescent – before enjoying a leisurely stay at the modern Thermae Bath Spa which first opened in 2006.
